October 2008 Update
Balfour Beatty Update
Balfour Beatty Regional Civil Engineering has been appointed by Stockton Borough Council to construct the exciting new footbridge connecting Teesdale and Queen’s Campus with
Tees Valley Regeneration’s North Shore development.
The bridge will be seen as a landmark structure illustrating engineering innovation. It will reflect the ‘state of the art’ developments planned for the area and it will form a fundamental element of the footpath and cycle network in the area, which forms part of the Teesdale Way.
Progress this month
The North Arch structural steel was successfully lifted into place on a wet Friday early in September using the UK`s largest mobile crane. This operation attracted a lot of local and National publicity.
Support cables have been installed and over the coming weeks the intricate operation to install the concrete deck panels will take place. This operation will entail floating the units out across the river on a specially constructed barge with lifting frame which will jack the units into position.
Works are now continuing on the North and Southern approach ramps and the associated paving and landscaping works.
Our methods of work
Balfour Beatty have worked with Stockton Borough Council and White Young Green to develop a scheme that will minimise the impact the works will have on the local residents, the environment and visitors to North Shore.
We pride ourselves on being a considerate contractor and strive to achieve the highest possible standards. The code of practice we work to can be found at www.ccscheme.org.uk.
These works will result in a major benefit to your local area and we hope you will experience the minimum of disruption. However, we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause.
